One of the most intriguing of all processes that eBay has for sellers and buyers alike is the Dispute filing. Ah, just like
linear motion which is the most basic of all motions so is this process.
Over used at times by those that do not understand what it really is for or when to use it.
Filing a dispute is a means that both buyers and sellers may use when there is absolutely no communication available. For a buyer if they do not receive their items they may file using this option but it takes you to Paypal if you used it so you may file directly through them in order to receive your item or most importantly your money back.
Filing a dispute can be done 7 - 10 days after the sale ends. Ten days is the normal as this gives the seller time to ship and the item to arrive. Which is a good practice and I have no problem with this at all.
For sellers it is a way to get our funds for the sale or have the seller fees associated with the sale returned to us. Easy? No, it is not. You have to wait a certain amount of time before you file. Wait a certain amount of time for a response and so on and so forth.
My latest filing against an individual that did not pay has been one of the most comical. A sale that was a small amount but there was no payment. OK, I want my fee back plain and simple. I file.
Days go by without a response. Here is the process and what has been said:
An Unpaid Item dispute has been opened for the following item: Happy Heart Oil: Wicca 1 ML Spells Ritual
Reason given for Unpaid Item: The buyer has not paid for the item.
Buyer actions reported by seller: The buyer has not responded
Buyers Response:
sorry to inform you that I've already cancelled this order on wed of this week.
Seller Response:
Hello
Who did you cancel this order with? As it was not shown through ebay. And there was no notice
sent reflecting this
Buyers Response:
I cancelled throught ebay along with a couple of other items I canceled. So I'm not sure what happened
and why it did'nt go throught to you but I did cancel this item.
Buyers Additional Response: however I do apologize for this mix-up. So now you know that I'm not going to get your product.
Deepest apologies.
Sellers Response:
Since there is nothing from ebay and ebay's software has marked this as a delinquent payment I have
no other proof that it was in fact canceled as sellers receive notifications immediately, also we get
our fee back. Neither was sent
You might contact ebay giving them all the information that you gave
me. But as it stands it will remain in the dispute process.
The reasons for a dispute is
1. Obtain payments that is owed or
2. Obtain our fees back
No other responses after that.
Now, with all of the faults with the Bay of E when a buyer or seller cancels there is an automated email sent to all parties. A person that is just starting out on eBay of course needs to learn how the system works. I take that into consideration on all new buyers.
I want the fees back right now. Now, I could be nice and cancel this so they do not get a strike and I get my fees back but when you do not tell the truth in a situation such as this, I think that you need to learn what happens. Maybe its the hard way but tell the truth!
Bottom line is honest communication. Oh and don't buy something that you can not afford
