Pandora's Casket

As everyone knows by now we have yet another postal rate hike. Even though it is only two cents for first class mail it makes a difference to many. Today while I was running off invoices and shipping labels I took a good hard look at the new rates that are for first class parcel.

Being used to seeing one price it is shocking to see the new higher rates. Makes you a little mad if you think about it. One thing that I have to decide if on certain things to ship I should raise the cost. Passing this on to the customers is not something that I enjoy doing but seriously it may have to be done.

Let us say that you are shipping a KVM switch via first class parcel rate. The past shipping cost may have been $1.58, which includes delivery confirmation. Now, the same item will cost nearly $1.90. Since I have still have room to not start raising the prices most of my customers can breathe a sigh of relief. I am still thinking about it though if there is another rate hike my costs will go up and the customers in the end will pay the price.
