Pandora's Casket

Have you ever noticed as soon as you give someone a two bit title they turn into a tyrant? Even if the title is nothing more than an Assistant it goes to their heads and quickly. Now I have been working for a company as an Independent Contractor for a few months. I though it was pretty cool when I was promoted to a QA. Very cool indeed. More money is what attracted me. Since sales are off a bit the money does come in handy for those pesky every day things.

Anyway, after a couple of months another promotion comes up. Well, at first I was so excited. The way it was first presented the money was looking darn good. The title? Not so much. Who cares about being called something fancy when you are making the bank. WHOA! Stop right there partner. Come to find out you really do not make the bank. In fact I would have been making a few hundred dollars less. You read that right! OK, no rocket science here I will stay where I am thank you much. The ones that took the promotion are those that did not wish to work for the bigger bank, didn't have extra time and of course wanted the title. With the title comes power. Oh ok, no it really doesn't.

The QA's that took the prom most did deserve it and are the same nice people as they were before. But those others. **shaking head** are even more ridiculous than they were before. I mean come on you are not God you are an 'assistant' only. Power hungry wads is what they are. They may have the power but you know what? We still have the bank.

Speaking of bank that reminds me that I have to call about a couple of things over at Outer Banks rentals for a spur of the moment family gig we are planning.

Have you ever seen the commercials for cash for gold? Oh, I know that you have. And I am sure that you laugh the same as I have many times over. But one day I was sorting through my things thinking you know I think I will check into this and see how it works.

It is actually as easy to do as they say it is. Going to the web or you can call and an envelope to be returned will be sent with very easy to follow instructions. You can not ask for anything easier that is for sure.


The entire process is a lot quicker than I had thought. Was I worried? Well, yes I was. I have to admit that. But you have to try things right?

In the end the entire process took a little over a week or so to finalize and I was happy with the results. Did I get a fair price? I think I did but then again the item had little to no significance to me so a dime would have been fair

So look through those drawers and see what you do not wear. A bird in the hand as they say!

One thing that is ever pressing here around this time of year and that is the returning of someone to school. Usually it is just to elementary, middle school or high school but this year the thoughts are of colleges.

Since my oldest son just graduated from high school we have been mulling over the various schools that are close by and even the distance learning colleges. One such University that we have been seriously looking into is The University of Scranton. One reason is that they are fully accredited and there is a full spectrum of courses to choose from.

Now, Trev wants to remain working but planning on school as well. So, we sat down to look at the distance schools comparing each. At the University of Scranton he liked the fact that most of the courses could be completed in a two year time period. Giving him the freedom to work and study at the same time.

The University of Scranton seems to be the best online MBA there is today.

And for those that are not sure of costs there is financial aide available as well.

Last Wednesday we spent over 2 hours for the karate promotion for Nicky and Jamie. It was well worth it! Seeing how far the guys have come in all these months is always a thrill.

Nicky always has the most serious face which is so very different than his usual laughing and smiling persona. It is nearly like looking at two different children. Jamie did well also Very proud of the both of them as the promotions are killer to go through.

By the time that they are through I know I feel as though I should have been looking into Medicare supplement insurance as it goes on and on and on!

The next belt will be harder of course which is the blue. But that will not be for awhile down the road. About the time my rear recovers!
