Out with the old and in with the new. That is what I am doing right now with our dining room table. I have been on the look out for a new dining room table as the one we have is not really big enough to fit all of us at one time. Really a pain to sit everyone on Sunday and special occasions. So I have been shopping around looking for something that not only fits our large family but the room as well.


I have been looking for the right dining table but I really am having a hard time finding just the right one. They are either to small or not the right style. I love the idea of shopping for the tables online in order to get an idea of what I am looking for. One table that I did find was this one. Perfect color, style and it extends to almost the right size for those times when everyone is here.



I fell in love with a few dining tables that I looked at but this one has all the qualities that I am looking for. Plus the matching chairs is the exact style that I adore!

I have another table that I am looking at also so I am unsure which one to choose. Maybe I will just flip a coin!

After the dining room table purchase I will move on to getting a new kitchen set for the corner. I like the table I have but I want to get one that has the booth like seating. I think that is for next year though!

Lately Shay and BB have been looking into new business ventures to start. They looked into the various franchises that are available that are affordable but in the long run make money.

There are a lot of them that actually are reasonable to start. It is just finding the right one that fits the girls tastes and life styles.

In this day and age we all need to take a look at what is available and plan ahead in order to make more more money and be comfortable.

It would be great if they could find a bakery franchise to set up! That would be perfect for all of us

Over the weekend we spent half of it doing yard work. Well, I didn't I just pointed out the things I wanted cleared and removed. Hard work I know but had to be done! Trevor whipped out the chain saw and started to clear the dead and even some new sprouting trees out that nobody wants to look at.

The yard is looking so much better already. A friend of mine called the other day and told me that there was going to be a sale on old school playground equipment in a couple of weeks. I was thrilled to hear that as a swing set would be so great to have in the back yard for the boys. The yard is big enough to have a lot of fun things back there so maybe I can pick something nice up for them!

If the weather is clear this weekend we will be out in the yard again. Hopefully I can get my flowers planted!

We really thought that winter was nearly behind us. Especially when we had those few short, precious warm days. Not so. It appears that our winter is still here and might not leave for another week or so. Last night we had a huge storm. The winds were blowing so hard that the house felt like a boat on the water. Nearly everyone was up and ready just in case the winds turned into a tornado. Luckily we were spared but it was a very long, cold and loud night.

Right in the middle of this storm Norm calls up trying to make some since out of what he was watching on one of the weather channels on Direct TV but it was in and out of service. Talking him through what was going on he felt better and finally hung up to watch more of the weather channels that he had. This is his first year of having any type of TV service either regular or Satellite TV since he moved here. He was enjoying the up to date news and reports on how bad the weather was all over Indiana.

The storm lasted for hours but the winds calmed down which was great. We were left with thunder, lightening and pouring down rain. Today was just like it has been for over a week-COLD.

Yes, indeed this is the winter that never ends. It goes on and on my friend!

Teaching is a really rewarding profession, although sometimes my nerves are tested in a room full of ten year olds, as you can imagine. One of the hardest parts of my job is getting all the necessary supplies for my classroom. Budgets are as low as they’ve ever been in my public school system and I sometimes have to go into my own savings to provide the kids with enough books and tools to do their work.

One thing that I didn’t mind springing for was clear wireless internet service, which I can take with me from home to the classroom. It’s great to be able to logon and access interactive websites and tutorials! as a way of teaching the kids and I’ve even rigged up a projector system that allows me to display my laptop screen on the ceiling!

The kids love it and we’re about to start a lesson on planetary systems so I’m excited to turn my room into a real live planetarium! Internet in the classroom is something no teacher should do without.

This afternoon we went to one of the few larger Guns & Ammo shows since we have lived here. Usually they are not all that great but we were told that this one would be different. Right off the bat I knew that it was going to be a lot better. One clue was by seeing the way in which the trade show flooring was laid out. Neat and clean looking. Sparkling and all a glitter. Nothing like the last one we went to where the flooring was drab and dirty looking.

It was really nice being at a show that we could nearly compare to Cali. The differences are vast I noticed but the main difference I noticed the way that the sponsors had color coordinating trade show carpet in places where it should be. Making the area look professional and appealing to walk around on. These carpets are of good quality and meant to be walked on still look clean and even newer.

A lot of the professional sellers had their logo mats strategically displayed on the outside and inside of their spaces so even if you didn't intentionally want to look you could not help but see them. I was talking to a couple of the sellers and they were quiet pleased with the way that the mats held up and could be designed in nearly any logo that they wanted. Plus they stacked neatly into their vehicles and trucks.

There were a few brave souls outside today. Since the weather was cool (actually cold) and wet a few had some great looking logo canopy accessories to cover where the items were and the buyers would end up. There were a few that I was wowed over as they not only had good logo graphics but the colors were out of this world! Getting your logo on canopy's, mats or other things that help you sell has come a long, long way since I started out that is for sure. Now though I am just content to be a buyer.

The day was a pretty good one despite the weather!

With garage sales coming up I am on the look out for inexpensive medical scrubs to purchase. Why buy these if you are not in the medical profession? I will tell you & it's quiet simple. They are great to use when you are working around the house, yard or in my case working on oils & powders. They have pockets to place all kinds of useful items to carry around with you that you will need while doing your chores. Not to mention they are roomy and comfortable to wear.

The wide variety of colors and designs of nursing uniform scrubs is truly amazing. Most of them are bright and cheerful so wearing them picks your mood up a little. Not to mention they are usually made of cotton so they breathe in the hot weather. Being loose they allow you to move in comfort. I am sold on the idea as they really look nice out of the washer and a lot of things that I work with to my amazement does not stain them. I can slip one of these on over a top and start working knowing that if I have to run an errand my top underneath is actually still clean.

Last year I wanted to buy scrubs that were used and of course could not find any. But really the new scrubs are not all that costly. If it saves one of my shirts from being stained by the oil bases I use it is well worth the cost.

I have two of them and in the need of more. One is left in the work room in case I forget to put one on and the other is folded in a drawer in the kitchen ready to be used while cooking or if I am going to do yard work.

Inexpensive, charming looks and good quality!
